The Overflowing Cup 7

Was raining off and on yesterday, so managed to get in a bit more on the curtain... is slow going, but becoming more steady, and when this part is done, the whole will look much more to the completed stage...

The Overflowing Cup 6

Finished with the folded section, am now in the process of getting the rest of the curtain down... one thing to note - the curtain, indeed all of this rendering, is in a formal fashion, and this is deliberate, not as a means of least resistance with the stippling, for it plays to the metaphoric theming, as much as also a parody of the seemingness of the tree[being offhandedly given the alternate title of 'The Bishop's Blessing']... as with almost all my works, there is much more to this one than at first meets the eye...

The Overflowing Cup 5

Progress... despite a cold over the past weekend, which hindered doing much of anything [and, fortunately, is clearing faster than had hoped], still stippling away... and tho not completed the fold section, decided to do some on the rest, to see how the curtain total would look...

The Overflowing Cup 4

A bit of progress on this - for some reason, the hand/wrist was not as bothersome... note the size of the nib being used to color the curtain...

The Overflowing Cup 3

Have finished off the grisaille of the shelf, and am on coloring the curtain, using FW raw sienna acrylic ink...

re - Heritage

originally it was to be a more complex work, with this as being on the right a wee, and another object, a photo of ancestors in an ornate frame on the other side... but could not find good source material to use for the oldtime photo imitation, so went with this in a smaller size... the image was deliberately vague so could be used to show a female or male child with an even more vague person aside... had just finished the Auel books, and so the idea of the bone handled ladle appealed to me, to see if could imagine such a thing... and it seemed to work all around, making for a nice small painting in b/w...

a further note, in case not considered - heritage can be from the past, OR beginning now into the future [one way of looking at the youngster in reflection]...

Heritage

Finally got a photo of my rendering, Heritage... acrylic black ink on 7"x5" Stonehenge pad paper, stippled with crow quill nib... like most all my works, this is out of my head, picturing an antique bone handled ladle reflecting an imagined young person...

The Overflowing Cup 2

For those interested, this is what am having to put up with for the time being, the consequence of falling out of a van and, in catching the fall, compacted my left wrist [which, of course, is my art hand]... while it is healing, there is nerve stress on the outside edge, especially when stippling for any length of time, so am bracing it with a bamboo rice paddle and an elastic bandage... will probably get one of those braces used for those with carpal tunnel syndrome and see if it helps more, but this is it for the time being... at least can get on with the rendering...

The Overflowing Cup 1

A wee bit further along... been working on getting more of the lost files found for the pc, so not as much time on this as would have liked... when this column is done, the pencil marks will be erased, and further thinning out will be added...
